Use the potential of your photovoltaics to the maximum. Thanks to accumulators, you can store energy for further use and, in addition, reduce your dependence on the electricity supplier. Discover the advantages of batteries for solar systems and find the type that meets your needs.

Have you purchased photovoltaics and reduced energy costs? Well done, you have taken a step towards energy-saving and self-sufficient living. But there is another way to get something extra out of a photovoltaic power plant – it’s the purchase of an accumulator . Batteries are worth buying already during the initial installation of the system, thanks to the use of the subsidy.

Why is it worth having your own batteries for solar panels?

There are several reasons why it pays to have a battery for a solar system . Judge for yourself.

You will use the generated energy efficiently

Imagine that your photovoltaic power plant is working at full capacity and the energy it creates from the sun’s rays can be immediately used to power appliances or heat water. But what happens to the rest? Unused energy drains into the grid and you lose it. Thanks to accumulators, this will no longer happen and your energy will remain stored for the next need.

You will have a backup power source

But the opposite can happen. Your photovoltaic is not producing enough energy because the Sun is not providing enough energy for the photovoltaic plant to produce the required amount of electricity for your household (it is cloudy, late in the evening, or vice versa in the morning). In such a situation, you usually have to go for the electricity you already pay for.

Power outages won’t throw you off anymore

In some cases, even using electricity from the supplier is not enough – for example, when there is a power outage due to storms, downed trees on power lines or high voltage conditions. At such a moment, you have no choice but to wait until the power supply is restored again.

The solution to all complications are batteries for solar systems. They will give you energy self-sufficiency in every situation, and will also reduce your costs to a minimum.

Types of storage batteries for photovoltaics

There is no battery like a battery. In practice, you can meet 3 main types that differ in their composition: lithium, lead and LiFePO 4 .

The lead-acid battery experienced a boom mainly at the beginning of the development of photovoltaics. Today, it is no longer installed in conjunction with photovoltaics, due to its shorter lifespan. A significantly better choice is a battery composed of lithium, iron and phosphate (LiFePO 4 ), which boasts low self-discharge and is today’s standard for photovoltaic power plants. However, the clear winner (in terms of properties) is undoubtedly the lithium battery, where you can discharge up to 90% of its maximum capacity (with LiFePO 4 it is usually up to 95%). In addition, it tolerates large temperature fluctuations well and has the longest service life of all types of batteries.

Don’t know which type to choose? Don’t worry. Your energy supplier will be happy to help with selection and installation.
